Preparing for Spirit

Preparing for the Journey

ZekeOlder animals or animals who become sick at a young age, have some extra and special time to spend with us. During this time, they're preparing for their journey home. As we struggle to come to terms with the inevitable, our animal friends are "making arrangements" to go home. Cats will actually travel to the other side in preparation for this journey. They may seek out old spirit friends, check out where they'd like to spend their time when they get there, or they may just get a taste of what it will feel like to be without their bodies. To us it may appear as if they're in a very deep sleep, or even already out of their bodies.

It may be by design that we humans forget too quickly where we came from. The life of an animal is comparatively short and they have no problem leaving their worn out bodies and travelling "home" to return to spirit.

If your animal is preparing to take the journey, you probably have questions as none of us wants to see our friends suffer. The number one question most humans ask is if their animal is in pain and if they have any last requests? You will be surprised to know that animals want to live their last days doing as many of the things they've come to love doing with us as they can. A dog that seems to spend a lot of time sleeping, may actually want to get outside and play ball. It's amazing to me that animals always live in the moment, right up until the time when they leave their worn out bodies and travel home.

I am able to ask questions and receive answers you need in order to make better decisions for your animal friend. They don't have to be awake or even with you at the time I have my talk with them. Many animals I work with are in the final stages of an illness and have just a few things to say. This isn't uncommon. I work with photographs and can talk to an animal even if they're sleeping most of the day. I can talk with your animal and find out what foods are good and what doesn't taste good anymore. I can ask (and feel in my body) if they're in pain. It really helps you to know what is going on with an ailing or older animal and to learn what you can do to make them more comfortable

My area of expertise is older animals readying to go to spirit, and animals who have crossed over. In this space I hope to share some of the lighter moments that make up my days.

Animals in Spirit

One of the hardest things we must do as humans is to say good-bye to an animal friend. Anyone who has had an animal as a best friend knows the void of suddenly not having them with us anymore. Whether we know this is inevitable, or if it's sudden - it's still grief just like any other.

Animals become our confidants, our friends always at the ready, and the ones who greet us with unconditional love in their eyes. Having them no longer in our homes and lives is a difficult adjustment.

I also talk with your animal that is on the other side. In the first few days, they need the chance to acclimate to their new surroundings and after a brief time, they are ready to "take questions." If this is something you're interested in, please call or email me in advance and I will explain a bit more about this very special type of consultation.

This isn't a substitute for the grieving process. But it can help. Knowing about your animal's journey to spirit, who they were greeted by, and how they're doing now can be very comforting.
